Our collaboration with BirdLife International

The alliance between BirdLife International and Microland represents much more than just a collaboration. It is the beginning of a human historical journey between two entities sharing the same vocation by bringing continuous support to local communities with scientific knowledge and ecological discoveries. Our joint actions aim to guide them in safeguarding their environmental, cultural and economic heritage.

Our common goals

BirdLife International represents a network of 115 environmental partners or NGOs, with one branch per country or territory. BirdLife is active in 23 African countries. Since 2006, BirdLife International has been doing remarkable work with local communities on the archipelago, developing land use planning strategies that promote the conservation of endemic species and the use of natural resources sustainably.

Our incredible collaboration, therefore, allows us to carry out ambitious projects such as the launch of sponsorship of trees in the Botanical Garden of Bom Sucesso and more.

We are committed to :

  • Support the protection, conservation and sustainable management of natural parks and high conservation value areas

  • Support the integration of biodiversity and ecosystem services in national policies and development planning

  • Support the development and implementation of specific projects to counter the degradation of natural resources and ecosystems, and the sharing of knowledge with stakeholders and local communities

  • Support the development and implementation of sustainable management models for São Tomé and Príncipe's natural heritage

  • Raise awareness of our actions with the public through impactful communications

  • Information sharing, including tools, best practices and advice that support the sustainable management of ecosystems and natural resources

  • Support sustainable management of the environment and sensitive ecosystems' policies.

"Microland brings scientific expertise and ideas, allowing us to develop innovative projects. BirdLife provides institutional support, national monitoring, support for the concrete implementation of activities in the field; the transformation of ideas into actions!"

- Jean-Baptiste Deffontaines , Country Project Manager for BirdLife.
